Hesiod

Hesiod is a singer. Hesiod sings through his stomach. But he is not a voice throwing ventriloquist.

One day young Hesiod was in the fields with the fleecy sheep, eating a sandwich, scratching his belly, and then the Muses – 9 of them – came out of nowhere. Came out of his stomach. They left their voices behind.

His mouth full of baguette, Hesiod sings:

Theogony

The boy is hiding in a dark spot – a hiding place – under the bed. There’s a glint in his eye. Its the gleam from the sharp thing in his hand. The sharp thing glimmers from the light coming in through the window. The glimmer stops. A man closed the curtain. The man – the father of the boy under the bed. The floor boards are creaking. The man is coming towards the bed. The bed is creaking. The man – the father is on the bed.

Juvenal satire 1

Later – tomorrow, 10 years from now, the space age future -
they’ll want and do the same things we want and do now.
