The Operation

The surgeon preformed the operation out of generosity. His help was sought after, he knew the deceased. Inside his own brain, somewhere, he was goaded on by an unnatural curiosity.
The first incision was swift and painless for reasons known to all present; the surgical attendant and the relation of the deceased. There were no guarantees. Rehabilitation, upon the event of success, was unlikely. Already the patient showed signs, they had waited too long and the ice was not enough. The odds were against them.

Sound Machine

They turned the sound off. The machine whirred down, it sounded like buttons, an engine’s metal moan and then
nothing and nothing.
No one knew for how long.

“Is it fair?”

They asked.

But they became tired of asking and soon forgot the reason and the motion of their lips seemed strange to them now

they remembered their fists. They pummeled at their brains and at other people’s brains and this seemed like something that they would have done before. Before what?, they did not know.

Writing the Idea

Always it is like giving birth: painful. And if it was a child that you wanted: satisfactory.

Yes. We were all very excited when we heard it.
